Consumer Reports Buying Guide
This is a monthly magazine published by the nonprofit organization, Consumers Union. Consumer Reports provides unbiased reports on consumer products, and is well known for providing product-comparative Consumer Reports Buying Guide. Although an individual can purchase a private subscription to the online or print editions, the Suffolk County Library subscribes to the Buying Guide e-resource, which can be accessed with a library card through the Livebrary portal Flipster app. It is a useful resource when trying to compare products outside of pay-to-play online rating sites, and includes vocabulary used in big-box stores, by internet retailers, and on product packaging.
To access this resource, go to Livebrary.com, hover over the magazines & newspapers tab, and click on EMAGAZINES. Then, enter your library card number into the "Patron ID" field. You will then be logged into Flipster, where you can see the Consumer Reports Buying Guide.
